Step 1
Gather up the ingredients which are below :
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- Two tablespoons cornmeal
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp dry yeast
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 whole egg white (for brushing.)
Step 2
Getting the ingredients right for the Italian bread machine recipe is not the only thing that holds significance, you must also follow the right sequence of adding these ingredients into the bread machine container. So take out the basket from the machine, making sure that it is clean and has the kneading blade attached to it. Now add the wet ingredients into the tub first and this includes the water and oil.
If you wish to start the process of kneading and baking right away then it really doesn’t matter in what order you dump your ingredients in but if you want it to start a little while later then it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to get the yeast reactive right away. So, after adding the water and oil put in the flour and the rest of the dry ingredients.
Step 3
Place the container with the ingredients back into the machine. You might have to add a little force, so it fits in snugly within its groove. Then close down the lid on top of it and plug in your machine. Now set your machine on the preferred cycle in the dough setting.
Step 4
Prepare a baking tray or cookie sheet in the meanwhile by greasing it. When the dough has risen, take it out on a working space and punch it down then form a rough shape of the loaf and leave it covered for proofing on the greased cookie sheet.
Step 5
When risen, put in slanting slits on the top side of the dough and sprinkle some cornmeal on top of it. In the end, brush egg white on the bread and put it in the preheated oven (375OF) for 20 – 25 min. Take it out and cool on wire rack.
Try this Italian bread machine recipe, and you will never have to buy Italian bread from the bakery again.
